G1 Stallions Match
Tesio Mating

        TrueNicks

The precocious WRITTEN TYCOON was an impressive winner of the Todman Stakes (G2). By the short-lived Iglesia, he is from the sire line of the highly-influential Last Tycoon, from the family of grade one winners Anthems and Yell.
Iglesia was beginning to demonstrate a strong affinity for Star Kingdom line mares, with four stakes winners on that cross. Iglesia has sired graded winner Nova Star out of a mare by Luskin Star, who can be brought in through Covetous (sire of St. Covet, who should work well here), Enforcer, Fiesta Star and Star of Luskin. Luskin Star is by Kaoru Star (also broodmare sire of a graded winner by Iglesia) and he could also be brought in through Old Spice (broodmare sire of a Last Tycoon line graded stakes winner).
Iglesia also has stakes winners out of mares by Semipalatinsk, and Black Zephyr. Semipalatinsk is by Nodouble, a son of Noholme II, and this line can be introduced through Brigand, Forest Glow, Green Line Express, Made of Gold, Toy Pindarri, True Statement and Zabaleta. Black Zephyr is by Zephyr Bay, from the Biscay line. Zephyr Bay can also be brought in through Broad Reach, Elounda Bay, Final Card, Full and By, Lomond Bay and Zephyr Zip, and other Biscay lines that could be introduced are Bletchingly (broodmare sire of four Last Tycoon line stakes winners), Bionic Ace (broodmare sire of two Last Tycoon line stakes winners), Kingdom Bay (broodmare sire of two Last Tycoon line stakes winners) and Take Your Partner. Other sources of Bletchingly are Best Western, Bureaucracy, Canny Lad, Cossack Warrior (sire of Brave Warrior, grandsire of Show a Heart), Star Watch (sire of Hurricane Sky), Kenny’s Best Pal and Lord Ballina.
Kaoru Star is sire of Old Spice (broodmare sire of a Last Tycoon line graded stakes winner), Aurealis, Full on Aces, Marceau (sire of Hula Chief), Mighty Avalanche and Pag-Asa. It is also worth considering mares descending from Star Kingdom through Todman, including through Imposing (broodmare sire of a Last Tycoon grade one winner), Blazing Saddles, Jevington and Zvornik (sire of Todvega).
Iglesia is sire of graded winner Sanderson out of a mare by Fuji Kiseki (by Sunday Silence, by Halo). This suggest other sons of Sunday Silence, such as Bubble Gum Fellow and Tayasu Tsuyoshi, and also bringing in Halo through More Than Ready or Don’t Say Halo. This also suggests that Sir Ivor – who is from the same male-line as Halo and closely-related to that horse – should work well. From the Sir Tristram branch of Sir Ivor there are Last Tycoon line stakes winners out of mares by Grosvenor, Westminster and Military Plume, and other Sir Tristram horses that could be used are Zabeel (and his son, Octagonal, and grandson, Lonhro), Kaapstad, Sovereign Red, Marauding, Dr. Grace, El Qahira and Islero.
Last Tycoon is a Northern Dancer line horse, but Last Tycoon and his sons have done well when crossed back over certain branches of Northern Dancer. Iglesia has a stakes winner out of a mare by Ashkalani (by Nureyev who can also be found in Australia through Spinning World – from the family of Last Tycoon’s sire, Try My Best – Fasliyev and Peintre Celebre). Nureyev’s three-parts-brother Sadler’s Wells (available through Galileo, Montjeu, High Chaparral, Barathea, Carnegie, Scenic, Blevic, King of Kings and Singspiel) and Fairy King (sire of Encosta de Lago and Helissio). Last Tycoon and his sons have also done well with Northern Dancer through The Minstrel (including through Masterclass – from the family of Try My Best, the sire of Last Tycoon – Palace Music and Bakharoff), Nijinsky II (including through Western Symphony and Tights, and also available through Royal Academy, Serheed, Whiskey Road and Yeats), and Storm Bird (particularly through Bluebird, but also worth bringing in through Storm Cat (who could be brought in through Hennessy – sire of Johannesburg – Catrail, Giant’s Causeway and Tale of the Cat).
The Last Tycoon line has worked with Mr. Prospector through Bellotto, Conquistarose, Fappiano (who can be brought in through Defensive Play and Unbridled’s Song), Gulch (sire of Thunder Gulch), Woodman (and his son, Hector Protector), Straight Strike and Zafonic (sire of Xaar, who is from the family of Last Tycoon’s sire, Try My Best).
We can also note that Iglesia is sire of graded stakes winner Helideck out of a mare by Prince Salieri, who is by Salieri, from the Damascus line, which could also be brought in through Gilded Time.
