G1 Stallions Match

A two-year-old group winner at Royal Ascot, and a group one performing miler at three, Statue of Liberty has a peerless stallion pedigree. He is a son of the mighty Storm Cat, is half-brother to Champion and leading sire, Lemon Drop Kid, and is out of a three-parts-sister to Champion racehorse and sire A.P. Indy.
Statue of Liberty has already proved his potential with the Danzig line, siring grade two winner Mic Mac out of a mare by Tertian, a son of Danzig, stakes winner ; stakes winner Broadway Harmony out of a mare by Danzig son, Rokosz; and Singapore grade one winner In the Crown out of a mare by Danzig son Snaadee. Obviously virtually any branch of Danzig is worthy of consideration here, but among branches that have worked under Storm Cat line stallions are Danehill (including through Flying Spur and Danzero, with Redoute’s Choice, also looking very interesting) and his brother Eagle Eyed, Chief’s Crown (sire of Grand Lodge and Be My Chief), Belong to Me, Danzig Connection, Green Desert, Dayjur, Mister C and
Honor Grades.
Statue of Liberty should also be good with Danzig through Anabaa, who gives inbreeding to Statue of Liberty’s female line via his broodmare sire as we note that Anabaa has already done well with mares carrying his close relation Bite The Bullet. Other representatives of the Northern Dancer line that might do well here are Dehere, and Nijinsky II (including Royal Academy –a close genetic relative to Storm Cat –, his son Bel Esprit, Serheed, Western Symphony, Whiskey Road and Yeats) and The Minstrel (who can be found through Palace Music –sire of Naturalism – Bakharoff, Chem and Masterclass).
Statue of Liberty is sire of two-year-old stakes winner Kolokol out of a mare by Hector Protector, a son of Woodman from the Mr. Prospector line. Branches of Mr. Prospector that have worked under Storm Cat and would be available in Australia include Fappiano (through Defensive Play and Unbridled’s Song), Forty Niner (sire of Distorted Humor, Twining and End Sweep), Geiger Counter, Gone West (through Zafonic, who would be particularly interesting here), Gulch (through Thunder Gulch), Hussonet (particularly appealing as his broodmare sire is from the same family as Statue of Liberty), Jade Hunter, Kingmambo (sire of King’s Best, Dubai Destination), Machiavellian (sire of Street Cry, No Excuse Needed and Vettori), Marquetry, Miswaki (sire of Umatilla, who should work well), and Seeking the Gold (sire of Lujain and Secret Savings).
Statue of Liberty has a pedigree that should work well with Sir Tristram, and there have already been Storm Cat line stakes winners out of a mares by Sir Tristram line stallions Dr Grace, Grosvenor, Kaapstad, Sovereign Red, and Zabeel and his son Octagonal (sire of Lonhro).
Storm Cat line stallions have done well over Blushing Groom, and he could be brought in through Rainbow Quest sire of Quest For Fame (who should work well here as will his son Viscount), Spectrum and Bin Ajwaad; Rahy sire of Fantastic Light and Noverre; Housebuster; Orientate; Nassipour and Pre Emptive Strike.
Statue of Liberty is sire of graded stakes winner Dan Baroness out of a mare by Rubiton (by Century), and there are two other graded winners by Storm Cat out of Rubiton mares. There are also five Storm Cat line stakes winners from Century through Centaine, and Rubiton’s brother Euclase should also be considered. Storm Cat has done well with Damascus, who can be found through Gilded Time and Salieri, and has also crossed successfully with In Reality through Relaunch (available through Honour and Glory) and Valid Appeal (who can be brought in through Southern Appeal).
Finally, within Statue of Liberty’s own female family there have been a number of sires that have stood in Australia and their daughters would have particular appeal here including mares by Bite the Bullet, Spectacular Spy, Honor Grades, Foxhound and Saithor. Inbreeding to this family has had great success in
recent years.
