SUE HAS FUN WITH KATE

Kate Loves Jack and, it would appear, the lightly raced 5YO also has a fancy for Mornington racetrack.

Trained by Eliza Park’s General Manager Racing, Sue Ellis, Kate Loves Jack ploughed through the Mornington mud on Thursday (27 August) to score comfortably over the 2431m.

The win proved yet again that patience is an albeit rare virtue in an industry focussed on precocious speed.

Racing for the first time – as a winter 4YO – in June, Kate Loves Jack finished midfield at his initial two outings before resuming from a short lay up on 13 August and grabbing a game second over 2200m at Ballarat.

It would hardly surprise to see Kate Loves Jack improve as the distances grow longer, particularly as he is great grandson of Kiwi staying great, Daria’s Fun.

Winner of the Wellington Cup-G1 and 11 other races, Daria’s Fun was trained by Sue in New Zealand and still holds the Australasian record for 3200m.
