STATUE'S SATURDAY DOUBLE

Statue of Liberty flyer, Hay List, is now on target for an eastern state, spring raid following another command performance in Perth on Saturday (15 August).
Chasing his fifth win from as many starts, the flashy 4YO again proved too strong over the concluding stages to score by half a length.

Commenting on the victory, Perth Racing said: “The imposing built son of Statue Of Liberty quickly put a gap on Tudor Lad halfway down the running, until he just appeared to switch off over the final stages.

“Tudor Lad really chased hard late, but Hay List held a comfortable margin in the run to the line.

“Post-race, astute horseman Jim Taylor believed that Hay List may be better suited on firm footing, however was still happy with how his gifted charge overcame a busy middle section of the race to win.”

Taylor added following the race that he would be looking for a similar race for Hay List over the next fortnight: obviously a precursor to a Sydney or Melbourne campaign.

Meanwhile, the nifty, Warneet, notched up a comfortable win at Grafton on Saturday for trainer Jenny Graham.

Out of the Swooping mare, Rose of Te Bello, Warneet’s granddam, Bidum Bidum was a Group winner at two and runnerup in the Ellerslie Sires’ Produce-G1.
Warneet was having only his second outing and, based on his tenacious effort on Saturday, it won’t be his last visit to the winners’ circle.
