DANBIRD'S LUCK Danbird has launched the new season with a sparkling win by Ladybird Luck over 1405m at Balaklava on Thursday (6 August). Having raced twice previously at Morphettville on wet tracks, Ladybird Luck relished the good going to score easily. Bred in South Australia by Ron Kervers and Lyn Karpowicz, Ladybird Luck is out of the Distored Humor mare, Exquisite Miss, in turn a daughter of Twig Moss. Passed in at last year’s Adelaide Magic Millions, Ron and Lyn have retained part ownership of the filly which races out of the John Macmillan stable. Danbird is poised for a successful spring with Robert Smerdon’s black typer, Royal Dalton, and $100k race winner, Western Raider, due to reappear on Melbourne tracks in the next few weeks. Western Raider’s trainer, Matthew Williams, said Western Raider had really blossomed in the paddock and had been back in work for around three weeks. |
