ECSTATIC ABOUT DELAGO While Delago Brom was strutting his stuff in a stallion parade at Bendigo races on Sunday (2 August), his progeny were earning money in three countries, including another stakes performance by Ecstatic Macau in Macau. Stakesplaced at two years in Australia when racing under the moniker of Classic Brom, Ecstatic Macau has made his mark in his adopted homeland, including a Group One second in the Macau Derby. His effort on Sunday was a game second in the $500,000 Summer Trophy-G3 to add some more black type to the trophy cabinet. Across the sea at Kranji racecourse, Michael Freedman’s Day of Empire, followed up his debut win at Singapore with a gallant third for owner Tan Tiong Boon. Day of Empire is out of the Kenmare mare Bithlo and appears to have a promising future. Meanwhile, The Other Man broke through for a win at Warrnambool, blitzing his rivals by a massive six lengths over the 1700m journey. Bred by David Kobritz, Reuben Benkel and Rick Smith, The Other Man is out of the Rancho Ruler mare, Raunchy Ruler, and is a half brother to their international Group winning pair: Man Of Illusion (Churchill Downs Turf Sprint-G3) and Really Good (Singapore Kranji Mile-G2). |
