TWO IN A ROW FOR BEL A resounding season has seen boom stallion, Bel Esprit, gallop away with his second consecutive Victorian Sires’ Premiership. The star turn at Thoroughbred Breeders Victoria’s annual awards held at Caulfield racecourse on Saturday 1 August, Bel Esprit’s ‘gong’ is even more remarkable when you consider the Eliza Park flyer is represented by just three crops of racing age. By the close of play, Bel Esprit had logged up 82 winners of 125 races: a season highlighted by the victories of Bel Mer in the Robert Sangster-G1, the unbeaten run of brilliant 2YO, Black Caviar, the Group win of Vivacious Spirit at Caulfield, his 10 juvenile winners and the tremendous strike rate of his three and four year olds, while – overseas – he is the talk of Singapore with his Group winner Mooring and exciting Perfect Sky. Eliza Park’s General Manager Operations, David Somers, was on hand to receive the TBV/John Ingleton Memorial Champion Victorian Stallion from Jenny Ingleton.
