ELIZA'S DREAMING SCORES AT SANDOWN Eliza Park’s General Manager Racing and Group One winning trainer, Sue Ellis, is probably doing some day dreaming of her own after the victory of September Dreaming in the Mitty’s Rising Stars Final (1720m) at Sandown on Wednesday (22 July). The mare has had absolutely no luck in recent tries but jockey, Nathan Rose, had a good sit a long way out from home and the Cape Cross 4YO flew home for a solid win. It’s a win that young Rose is not likely to forget, given that it was his first in the metropolitan area: “She let down strongly in the straight and hit the line really well.” Naturally enough, September Dreaming’s ‘progress’ is watched closely by the entire Eliza Park team as she is speedy testimony to a number of services provided by the organisation. Foaled in New Zealand, September Dreaming’s breeder sent the filly across the Tasman to be prepared by Eliza Park for the 2006 Magic Millions National Yearling Sale. The filly was sold but subsequently failed the vet check, with the breeder selling his interest to Eliza Park. September Dreaming was then broken in at Eliza and, subsequent to, has been trained utilising the facilities at our Kerrie property. Now the winner of three plus eight other cheques, September Dreaming is by Green Desert stallion Cape Cross (51 SWs) from the Mi Preferido mare C’Est Soir, dam of four winners and a half sister to Flemington stakes winner Glorious Day. This is also the family of Group One performers Riverdale and Cedar Manor. For a replay of the race, click here.
