APPARITIONS AT CANTERBURY Clarry Connors appears to have a very smart filly on his hands in the shape of Bel Esprit filly, Apparitions who produced a solid win over 1550m at Canterbury on Wednesday (3 June). Resuming in April from a six month spell, Apparitions won over 1200m at Canterbury and followed up with a fourth and then a second at Kembla Grange in May. But Apparitions was right on the money last Wednesday, producing an emphatic victory, much to the delight of punters who had backed the filly into $2.90 favouritism. Bred by a group which includes industry stalwart, Bill Riches, and his son-in-law Matt Brown, Apparitions is out of the Flying Spur mare Stormy Petrel, a half sister to Black Opal Stakes-G3 winner Coral Salute. Now with eight starts to her name, Apparitions has won two, placed in three and brought home a cheque in two others. |
