RON'S PRIDE Terrific to see long time Eliza Park supporter, Ron Coleman, notch up yet another win on Thursday (21 May) with Bel Esprit 3YO, Sandhill Pride, scoring over 1400m at Mt Gambier. It was victory number two for the Sam Turner trained youngster, who is raced by Ron and his family. Ron raced both Sandhill Pride’s dam (Can’t Miss) and granddam (Miss Nisku) and has enjoyed tremendous success with the pedigree. An out and out sprinter, Miss Nisku won six races including the SAJC Escort Stakes-LR and was stakes and Group placed on four occasions. Heading to stud, her first foal was Can’t Miss, who picked up two wins in town before heading to stud herself where she has produced multiple city winner Gundooee Miss and Sandhill Pride. Miss Nisku produced 10 foals before putting the cue in the rack around five seasons ago, with her third offering turning out to be the Group placed Asalant, while her fourth was the outstanding sprinter Staaraq, winner of the SAJC Spring Stakes-G3. Another of Miss Nisku’s daughters in Flirted couldn’t crack it for a win, but made up for it in the breeding barn – this time for Eliza Park – producing homebred Lacey Underall, winner of last year’s Adelaide Cup-G2 after running second in 2007. Well done Ron. |
