CLANGALANG DUPLIFYS Clangalang is clearly one of the most underrated stallions in Victoria – in Australia for that matter. Standing at just $5,500 this season, his oldest progeny are 3YOs and, while there is no rhyme or reason to this breeding caper, you wouldn’t have thought that a stallion, whose turf highlights included history breaking wins in the AJC Derby and Epsom Handicap, would be producing too many spring 2YOs. That said, he has already produced a number of juvenile winners but it’s his ‘form’ over the past month that really makes you sit up and take notice. Despite only having six runners since the end of April, ALL of them have taken home cheques, including Bavarian Belle (runnerup in Hobart), Geegees Blackflash (placings in Hobart and Launceston), Bush Music (two seconds in Victoria) and Duplify, who has earned money at four of his last six outings, including a five panel win at Tatura on 16 May. Bred by the Grills family, who also part-own the Brian Cox trained 3YO, Duplify is out of the Marscay mare Flannelle, a half sister to dual Moonee Valley Group winner Rockets Galore. There’s more Clangalang winners in store. Remember … patience can be a very rewarding virtue in racing. |
