LIBERTY REIGNS IN TWO HEMISPHERES

STATUE OF LIBERTY continues to make a name for himself on both sides of the equator with a double at Lingfield (England) last Wednesday (1 April) before following up with a two state double yesterday (5 April).

Amazingly, both Statue of Liberty performers at Lingfield won by seven lengths apiece.

The first – Speak The Truth (from Brief Truce mare Brave Truth) lobbed in over the 6 furlongs (1200m) while, two hours later and over the same trip, Mr Skipiton (a 4YO from Singspiel mare Salty Air) got the money by exactly the same margin.

Back at home, Liberty Reign – almost – repeated the dose when her official winning margin at Launceston yesterday was deemed to be 6.5 lengths. Bred by Ken Breese, Liberty Reign is trained by Andrew Roach and was primed for the Launceston assignment with a lip second at Devonport on 25 March. From the Encosta de Lago mare, Girls Day, Liberty Reign is closely related to Robbie Griffiths’ Group One runnerup Cancanelle.

The owners of Lovineveryminute are doing just that with their smart filly who broke her maiden at Gundagai yesterday following a 28 week spell. The Ken Callaughan 3YO is from a rock solid Kiwi family (including Brisbane Cup runnerup Maxam) and her dam Pleasurable – by Personal Escort – was sold to Lovineveryminute’s breeders at the 2001 June Broodmare Sale.
