DELAGOS DOUBLE AT THE 'RAT

Racegoers at Ballarat were treated to a DELAGO BROM double last Thursday (2 April) with Stella Delago getting up to win her maiden in race two, while Tom Hughes’ Folau followed up with a thrilling victory in race three.

The Lyn Tolson trained Stella Delago had been knocking on the door with three placings in four starts (including a whisker second at Stony Creek) but the seven week ‘breather’ saw her cherry ripe for last Thursday’s assignment. Out of the Demus mare Stella Brillante, Stella Delago is from the immediate family of former top sprinter miler Picco (19 wins).

And speedy 3YO, Folau, lived right up to his namesake with a cracking win over the 1000m at Ballarat. Having finished second at Flemington as a 2YO, Folau had no luck last time in, but he too appears to have benefited from the break and was having his first run in 17 weeks at Ballarat.

Probably named after former Melbourne Storm rugby league player, Israel Folau, the neddy version is out of the Rustic Amber mare Flamber and is a full brother to winner Tommy Cat. This is also the immediate family of stakeswinning siblings, Harkaway and Melinte.
