BEL'S GOOD NEWS WEEK

Two winners, three seconds, three thirds, nine money earners … 10 runners.

It’s been another big week for Bel Esprit who had nifty juvenile, Genuine Stunner, get the ball rolling with an emphatic victory over 1000m at Morphettville on 31 January.

Genuine Stunner, bred by Lester Durney, was having her second start at Morphettville after appearing in the Inglis Juvenile in late October. Sold to Stuart Gower for $42,000 at last year’s Melbourne Premier, Genuine Stunner is out of the Sydney winning Brief Truce mare Brief Moment and hails from the immediate family of dual stakeswinner Hollydoll Girl.

Bel Esprit almost got his second juvenile winner for the week when debutant Lagobell fought on strongly to snare the runner up prize over 1000m at Ascot on Wednesday 4 February.

Sold by Erinvale Thoroughbreds for $120,000 in Perth last year, Lagobell is out of the Encosta de Lago mare Tolago, the family of Fairy King Prawn, Twiglet, Easy Rocking and co.

Closer to home, the promising mare Khairesprit racked up her third win on the trot, scoring over 1600m at Ararat on Tuesday (3 February).

This Bel Esprit first cropper from the Khairpour mare Khairatan goes from strength to strength for trainer Darren Weir and don’t be surprised to see her adding to the tally before this campaign is through.

From the immediate family of juvenile Group winner Abandoned War, is one of 34 Bel Esprit females to salute, as opposed to 36 males.

Finally, David Murphy’s Brisbane flyer, Galactic Spirit, is surely close to a win after running on solidly for third at Eagle Farm on Wednesday 4 February.

With three placings from four starts, the Bel Esprit filly is out of Bluebird mare, Resplendent and boasts a solid European black type family.
