| SECRET TO SUCCESS
It’s no secret that Eliza Park is a prolific producer of stakeswinners and the speedy, Secret Flyer, joined the stud’s black type honour roll on Saturday (17 January) with an emphatic 4.5 length victory in the $125,000 Kensington Stakes-LR over 1100m at Randwick. Trained at Colac by Mark Young, the Secret Savings 5YO now has six wins and five placings from 16 starts and over $180k in stakes. Bred by Eliza Park and sold for $29,000 at the 2005 Inglis Autumn Yearling Sale, Eliza Park’s Shane McGrath remembers the horse well: “He was a lovely type … built for speed. "He won his first start by five lengths, but he’s really come into his own this campaign with two wins, two seconds and a fourth from five starts – including, of course, the Kensington win. “It’s great to see him doing so well for blokes like Anthony Mithen and Mick Armstrong who have been such terrific supporters of Eliza.” A son of the Seeking The Gold stallion, Secret Savings, who died earlier this year, Secret Flyer hails from the family of Group One winning sprinter Hard Spun. |
