| WEEKEND DOUBLE FOR DELAGO
Delago Brom’s super run has continued with a brilliant performance by Tranquil Lass over 1100m at Hobart yesterday (18 January). Sharing the name of a terrific 2YO filly of the 1950s, DLB’s Tranquil Lass is showing plenty of toe as a juvenile too. Running fourth on debut at the end of November, it’s been all roses ever since with a victory at Launceston on Boxing Day preceding yesterday’s romp. Bred by Terry Clarke, Tranquil Lass was passed in at the 2008 Tasmanian Yearling Sale and the underbidder’s loss is now very much Terry’s gain as he retained a share in the filly and placed her with successful Brighton trainer Charlie Goggin. Tranquil Lass, from the Our Poetic Prince mare Dantessa, is a half sister to two other winners including King’s Scholar (6 wins, inc. Hobart Guineas-LR). It was actually a big couple of days for Delago Brom with The Rehearsal winning well over 1600m at Bairnsdale on Saturday. The eighth winner for Delago Brom since the start of January (plus a couple overseas), The Rehearsal was having only his second run this time in and should easily step up to the next grade. Bred by John Gunning (who also trains the 4YO out of his Pakenham stables), The Rehearsal is out of the stakes placed Rancho Ruler mare Miss La La and hails from the family of 3-time Group One winner St Jude. |
