ANOTHER DELAGO DOUBLE

For a 4YO who had her first start in February of last year, Delago Brom mare Scarlet Romance has hardly been overraced.

When she lobbed at Kyneton yesterday, Scarlet Romance was only facing the starter for the fourth time, but trainer Patrick Payne’s patience has been well warranted.

Despite an ordinary run on debut, Scarlet Romance won at her next start in June (at Warrnambool), ran third (beaten a neck) at Mornington in August before winning at Kyneton some four months later.

The third winner for her sire in as many days, Scarlet Romance is from the immediate family of stakeswinners Viminaria, Grey Alder, Maritima, Gazania and co.

Meanwhile, up north – waaay up north – Ecstatic Macau has notched up his second win on the trot in Macau, taking out the Prix High Line over 1500m at Taipa racecourse.

The first Delago Brom to earn black type when second to Cecconi in the Blue Diamond Preview-LR at two, Ecstatic Macau raced on eight occasions in Oz – under the moniker of Classic Brom – before being sold to Macau interests early last year.

He has now raced four times at Taipa for a Group placing on debut, a second and two wins. His new owners – we can safely assume – are ecstatic!
