INSISTENCE FOR BLACK

Mighty effort by Insistence yesterday (29 November), taking out the feature race on the Eagle Farm program – the Carlton Draught Classic-LR over 1200m.

A daughter of Black Hawk, Insistence has now won six from 20, along with an impressive eight placings. Although this was Insistence’s first try at stakes level, she showed no signs of letting the step up in class phase her, racing away to score by almost two lengths.

Resuming at the end of October with a Doomben third, Insistence has now won two on the trot and, as a matter of fact, has finished out of a place in her last seven outings.

Insistence is by Black Hawk, the Nureyev stallion who shuttled to Eliza Park for six seasons before being caught up with last year’s EI restrictions.

Hailing from Black Hawk’s first Aussie crop – which also includes 3-time stakeswinner St Trinians and Kiwi stakeswinner Zeta Black – Insistence is out of the Clay Hero mare, Opportune, a full sister to Melbourne stakeswinner Ringside Lady, dam of dual stakeswinner She’s Purring and granddam of Sydney stakeswinner Global Warming.

Bred by Eliza Park, Opportune was sold (in foal to Black Hawk) to long time client Ray Willis of Rheinwood Pastoral.

Well done Ray and also to trainer Gillian Heinrich, who snapped up Insistence for $70,000 at the 2005 Gold Coast Magic Millions.
